Smarty Pants

Selling our house has added another dimension to the chaos of the recent weeks. The other day I was home alone with both boys (doesn't happen very much yet) and saw a car sitting out in front of the house. I was in the middle of changing Grayson's diaper and Jackson was cranky because dinner time was quickly approaching. The driver of the car was on the phone...I knew immediately that it was a realtor calling to see the house. I panicked. The phone rang and they wanted to see the house in 10 minutes. Yeah right. There were toys everywhere, dirty diapers, beds not made, etc... I asked for 20. I tried to occupy Jackson with crackers and Grayson was screaming in his swing while I hurriedly swept the floor, took the trash out, and made sure the toilets were flushed.

SO, as I loaded Jackson into the van I gave him my keys to play with - he likes to push the buttons and make the horn beep (when the doors lock). It's pretty hot here so I grabbed the other set of keys and turned on the van while I finished getting them into the car. I shut the doors on Jackson's side, grabbed Grayson (who was still screaming) and went to the other side of the car. The horn beeped. Jackson had pressed the lock button on the keys and locked himself in the car. Remember, the other set was in the ignition, along with my cell phone. I had no way of getting in. But, thank goodness we have such a smart son :) I went to his window and told him to push the button over and over. He pushed the lock button a few times and then he pushed the unlock. All I could think about was the realtor was going to show up and my son is locked in the car, with the car running, my other son is screaming and I was going to have to use her cell phone to call the police to come and unlock the doors.

I thought it was just coincidence that Jackson was able to press the button but I am realizing that he probably really understood what needed to happen. Today I asked him to get Grayson's paci out of the swing for me and he stopped what he was doing and grabbed all 3 - he's a genius!! :)

Life With Two!

We're adjusting to the new life with two boys in the house. Lyndsey is glad that I'm home for the summer, but also probably ready to have me out of here. We've been blessed to have family and friends help out with dinners, etc. In fact, we've had more dinner from other people than we've cooked for ourselves, so that's been great.

We can already see big differences between Jackson and Grayson, but there are also many similarities. We hope and pray that they'll be close buddies as they grow up together!

Lynds and I worked out a deal where I get to sleep through the nighttime feeding (2:30), and she sleeps while I feed him first thing in the morning. I get Grayson fed around 7:00, and Jackson is up around 8:00, and I get him breakfast as well. This is my favorite time of the day, and it helps Lyndsey out also. Hopefully I'll still be able to do that sometimes when my job gets in full swing in August.

We posted a new video, and some new pictures below. Blessings to you and your families.

Jackson had his first big fall today at the pool, I (Lyndsey) was more upset than he was, but he's got some pretty good marks. Daddy told him that the girls like guys with scars.

More Videos!

Here are a couple more videos for you, I tried to make these in a format that will be easier to download and view.

They are both of Jackson watching his Baby Einstein movie. In this first one, we caught Jackson doing one of his favorite things, dancing!

This one shows how enthralled Jackson can get with his movies. He makes us laugh!

Transitioning

We are settling in with the new addition. Jackson has given his seal of approval, and was trying to get Grayson to watch Baby Einstein with him today. We hope you all have enjoyed the videos and pictures, and we'll try to keep them updated, at least every couple weeks.

We are very thankful for my (Jobe) new job with Universal Technical Institute, because it has allowed me to be home a lot this summer to help Lyndsey with the transition. UTI is an Automotive/Motorcycle/Marine technical school, and I will be a field admissions representative in the South Dallas area. I have a territory of high schools that I will visit, and I will be presenting to juniors and seniors, then following up with those that express an interest in the school, and interviewing them and their parents for admission to the school. It's a chance to still have an impact on kids, without making a teacher's salary.

Lately, Lynds has been breaking me in to The View, Dr. Phil, and Oprah. I guess there are some bad things about being home all summer.

Grayson Mitchell Lewis
Posted by Hello

Grayson Mitchell Lewis

Well, he's here. Jackson has a little brother, though he hasn't met him yet. They will probably meet on Monday morning.

Grayson Mitchell Lewis was born this afternoon at 2:06 PM Central Time. He weighed in at 7 lbs 9 oz, and 20 inches long. (Jackson was 7 lbs even and 20 inches) He is in very good health, and is very alert and active. It's strange to us how small he seems compared to Jackson, even though it's only been 13 months since we went through this with him.

Lyndsey was incredible as usual, and she conquered the childbirth experience one more time, with relatively few scars. There was one glitch when the epidural only numbed her right side. They had her lay on her left side, and gave her more dosage to get the left side numb. Basically what that amounted to was about 10 contractions that she was trying to avoid when she asked for the epidural in the first place.

When her left side finally settled down, she was at 8 cm, and it was only a half hour until she was fully dilated.

She then pushed through THREE contractions, and Grayson was here! Unbelievable. The Pitozin started at 8:52 AM, and Grayson was born at 2:06 PM.

We're thankful to God for giving us another wonderful gift of life, and we're excited for the adventure to come. Thanks again for all your prayers and support. Pictures are posted in the links section (more tomorrow)

Jackson has learned to sit quite comfortably on his brother. I hope that doesn't continue after the new guy arrives!
